Dehradun, 28 Oct: Police have arrested the main accused and mastermind behind the firing incident that took place outside Doon Hospital earlier this month. The accused had been on the run since the incident to avoid arrest.
According to the police, the firing happened due to a dispute over money and indecent remarks made about a woman. The incident took place when one of the accused shot at a youth named Dishant Rana outside Doon Hospital and then fled from the spot.
Police had earlier arrested five people in connection with the case – Rohan Arya, Vishal Tomar, Sohel Khan, Shanu, and Javed – who were sent to jail. However, the main conspirator, Nripendra Dhama alias Kavyansh Dhama, had been absconding since the incident.
Acting under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, several police teams were formed to trace and arrest the accused. After continuous efforts and raids at possible hideouts, the police finally arrested Nripendra Dhama alias Kavyansh Dhama near IT Park, Dehradun, on Tuesday.
Police said that the accused had planned the attack, and his associates carried it out over a personal dispute.
The arrested accused, Nripendra Dhama, is a resident of Khekra village in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, and was currently living in Govind Vihar, near Siddharth Law College, Dehradun.
The arrest was made by a police team led by Inspector Pradeep Pant, in-charge of Kotwali Nagar Police Station, along with Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Head Constable Mahendra, and Constable Jogendra.
