Digital Life Certificate Campaign for Pensioners to be run in Almora

Almora, 2 Nov: The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, will organise the nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 4.0 from 1 to 30 November. This campaign is a significant initiative under the Government’s vision of digital empowerment of pensioners, which is aligned with the Digital India and Ease of Living Mission.

In this series, a DLC camp will be organised at the Head Post Office, Mall Road, Almora on 3 November. DLC Abhiyaan 4.0 aims to reach out to 20 million pensioners in over 2,000 cities and towns with a saturation-based outreach approach. The campaign will emphasise the use of Aadhaar-based face authentication technology, which will free pensioners from relying on biometric devices and enable them to submit their life certificates easily from the comfort of their homes using smartphones. Special attention will be given to very senior and disabled pensioners through the doorstep DLC service of India Post Payments Bank.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasised in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme (24 November 2024) and Constitution Day address (26 November 2024) that the pension process of senior citizens across the country is being simplified through new initiatives of Digital India like digital certificates.

Lalta Prasad Pal, Consultant, Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Government of India will visit Almora on 4 November to participate in the camps organised by India Post Payments Bank and State Bank of India, Almora, to interact with pensioners submitting DLC ​​through face authentication and inspect the doorstep DLC services and camps under nationwide DLC Campaign 4.0. The official will review the coordination between banks, India Post Payments Bank (Department of Posts), UIDAI, NIC and local Pensioners’ Welfare Associations to ensure smooth functioning of the camps.

With an aim to digitally include pensioners living in remote corners of the country, the campaign will be implemented in collaboration with all key stakeholders – banks, India Post Payments Bank, UIDAI, MeitY, NIC, CGDA, Railways and local pensioner welfare associations.

The Department of Pensions is committed to ensuring digital empowerment and making the lives of pensioners convenient through continuous reforms and technology-driven initiatives like Digital Life Certificate Campaign.
