Doon Marathon Marks Uttarakhand’s Silver Jubilee, DM Savin Bansal Flags Off 700 Participants

Dehradun: As part of Uttarakhand’s Silver Jubilee Foundation Day celebrations, the district administration of Dehradun organized the Doon Marathon on Friday. The marathon was flagged off by District Magistrate Savin Bansal from Pavilion Ground, marking the spirit of unity, fitness, and progress.

The 8-km run began at Pavilion Ground and passed through Kanak Chowk, Asley Hall, Bahl Chowk, Dilaram Chowk, and Brahmkamal Chowk to NIVH, before returning via the same route to Pavilion Ground. Around 700 participants joined the marathon, showcasing enthusiasm and pride for the state’s 25 years of establishment.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal said the occasion symbolized the collective determination and energy of Uttarakhand. “This Doon Marathon is not just a sports event but a reflection of our unity and commitment to a strong and vibrant Uttarakhand,” he said.

Highlighting the marathon’s message, Bansal added, “Just as reaching the finish line requires persistence, our state’s development also depends on the continuous efforts of every citizen. The youth are the strength and hope of Uttarakhand — their steps represent the rhythm of our future.”

He emphasized that the event promotes sportsmanship, health, and unity, urging citizens to contribute to building a clean, healthy, prosperous, and exemplary state.

In the women’s category, Tanushree Chauhan secured first place, followed by Gauri Rawat and Sudha Patel in second and third positions respectively. In the men’s category, Nitin Bhandari clinched the top spot, while Mukesh and Vipin finished second and third.

The event witnessed participation from District Tourism Development Officer Vijendra Pandey, District Sports Officer Ravindra Singh, District Youth Welfare Officer Pramod Pandey, representatives from various institutions, and several participants.
