The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has successfully concluded the five-day assessment of the implementation of National Health Mission (NHM) programs in Uttarakhand under the 16th Common Review Mission (CRM). The CRM team conducted an on-ground review of the various national health programs being implemented in the state, focusing on districts Bageshwar and Dehradun.
Led by Dr. Divya Valecha, Additional Commissioner of the Health Ministry, the 14-member team, comprising central and state government officials, public health experts, and development partners, carried out a detailed evaluation of physical and financial aspects, healthcare facilities, and community engagement. The team assessed hospital infrastructure, resource availability, maternal and child health services, drug supply, and human resources, among other key areas.
During the inspections, the CRM team evaluated the progress and implementation of health programs, gathering insights into operational challenges and achievements. A comprehensive report of the findings will soon be submitted to the central government.
Following the field visits, a state-level debriefing meeting was chaired by Swati S. Bhadauria, Mission Director of NHM, Uttarakhand. She emphasized the importance of the Common Review Mission as a tool to ensure transparency and accountability in healthcare services, enabling policymakers to address real-time challenges and improve the quality of health services.
Several senior health officials, including Dr. Naresh Sharma (Director General, Health Directorate), Dr. Manu Jain (Director, NHM), and Dr. Sanjay Jain (Chief Medical Officer, Dehradun), along with CRM team members and other stakeholders, participated in the meeting. The session highlighted key observations and provided actionable insights to enhance healthcare delivery in the state.
The Common Review Mission has once again reaffirmed its role as a critical mechanism to assess and improve the effectiveness of health programs, fostering a transparent and responsive healthcare system.
