Two Major Projects Approved by Centre: Elevated Road from Haldwani to Haridwar to Begin Soon

In a significant boost to Uttarakhand’s infrastructure, the Central Government has approved two major road development projects, including the construction of an elevated corridor connecting Haldwani to Haridwar. The National Highways Authority has formally approved the proposal, aiming to streamline road travel between the two major cities and reduce travel time to around two and a half hours. Work on the DPR for the Lalkuan bypass has also begun.

MP Ajay Bhatt confirmed that he held detailed discussions with the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways regarding both projects. He stated that the elevated road will save time and fuel, provide smoother travel for residents of Kumaon, and improve access for tourists and pilgrims heading to various religious destinations across the state. He added that approval has also been granted for the Lalkuan bypass, with tender work already initiated. Once completed, heavy vehicles will be diverted outside city limits, helping reduce congestion in Lalkuan town.
