Dehradun, December 10, 2024: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a 25% discount on accommodation in GMVN hotels for devotees visiting Char Dham winter pilgrimage sites, including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The decision aims to promote winter tourism while strengthening the state’s economy.
During a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure comprehensive preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. He emphasized:
- Improved Registration System: The registration portal system will be strengthened to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
- Capacity Expansion: Efforts will be made to increase the carrying capacity of Char Dham sites by enhancing infrastructure and essential services.
- Stakeholder Meetings: Regular discussions with stakeholders will be held to implement effective management strategies.
- Local Development: Surrounding pilgrimage sites, including Panch Badri and Panch Kedar, will be developed.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to launch a robust promotional campaign across different states, highlighting winter travel options. He stressed that roads, drinking water, sanitation, healthcare, and essential facilities must be improved along Char Dham routes. A special focus will be placed on alternative routes to Yamunotri and nearby historical sites.
Visitors and dignitaries will be presented with locally made products as souvenirs, promoting the “Vocal for Local” initiative and boosting the state’s local economy.
The meeting saw the participation of senior officials, including Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, DGP Deepam Seth, and several district magistrates and police superintendents from Char Dham regions through virtual conferencing.
