Uttarkashi – The body of a Home Guard was recovered along with his motorcycle from a deep gorge near Motad Bridge in Uttarkashi district on Tuesday. The Home Guard had been missing since Monday evening, triggering a search operation by the authorities.
According to information received, the deceased has been identified as Bharat Singh (57), son of late Sabbal Singh, a resident of Baladi village under Naugaon area of Uttarkashi district. He had left his home on Monday evening but did not return, after which his family reported him missing.
Police later received information that a motorcycle had fallen into the river near Motad Bridge, around three kilometres from Post Mori. Following the alert, an SDRF team was immediately dispatched to the spot. During the search operation, the team recovered the body of the Home Guard from the gorge near the river.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further action is being taken as per procedure.
