Despite clear skies following recent snowfall, cold conditions persist in Uttarakhand as minimum temperatures continue to drop. In Dehradun, the minimum temperature has remained below 5°C for the past four days. On Sunday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 22.3°C and a minimum of 4.8°C. According to the Meteorological Department, the state is likely to experience dry weather until December 19, but further dips in nighttime temperatures are expected.
In Badrinath Dham, severe cold has caused water streams and drains, including the Urvashi Dhara, to freeze. Night temperatures have plunged to -11°C. Although sunny days provide slight relief, mornings and evenings remain bone-chilling. Despite the harsh weather, work on the Dham’s Master Plan continues, with ITBP, police, and BKTC personnel stationed there, though the cold wave has made working conditions highly challenging.
