Haridwar – An NRI woman died under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Haridwar, triggering a police investigation. The woman, identified as Anna Chauhan (66), a resident of the United States, had arrived in Haridwar with a 17-member group for a visit.
According to police, the group was staying at Hotel Perfect Premium in the Saptarishi area. On Tuesday, Anna Chauhan’s health suddenly deteriorated at the hotel. She was immediately taken to the district hospital in Haridwar through a 108 ambulance service, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The police informed the woman’s daughter, Alisha, about the incident. The body has been kept at the district hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Preliminary assessment suggests that the death may have occurred due to a heart attack, though officials have not confirmed the exact cause.
SP City Abhay Pratap Singh said that the actual cause of death will be determined only after the postmortem report is received. Police have initiated necessary legal procedures and are recording statements of people associated with the group to rule out any other possibilities.
