Three women lost their lives after a utility vehicle fell into a deep gorge near Kalsi in Vikasnagar, Dehradun district. The accident occurred on the Bairatkhal–Gangrou motor road under the jurisdiction of Kalsi tehsil.
According to official information, the vehicle went out of control near a place known as Wayadhar in the revenue police area of Gangrou and plunged about 50 metres into a gorge. After receiving information, the administrative team reached the spot and began rescue operations with the help of local residents.
One of the occupants, Luso Devi, aged 65 and a resident of Gangrou, died on the spot. Gita Devi, 35, a resident of Kusyaun, died on the way while being taken for treatment. Dhanau Devi, 53, a resident of Chitar, died while being referred to a higher medical centre.
Five other people injured in the accident are undergoing treatment at the Sub-District Hospital in Vikasnagar. Officials said rescue and relief work was carried out promptly after the incident.

The driver of the vehicle, Ramesh, stated that the accident occurred due to the rear tyre coming off the utility vehicle. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prem Lal confirmed the death of three people and injuries to five others.
