Holi celebrations turned tragic in Uttarkashi after a 23-year-old youth died following a fall from a hillside during a late-night party near Kuteti. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the Main Market area of the town.
According to police, Anmol Ubhan, a resident of Joshi Mohalla in Uttarkashi’s Main Market, was celebrating Holi with two friends near the Jaspur Silyan motor road close to Kuteti. During the gathering, he reportedly slipped and fell down a hillside, sustaining serious injuries.
His friends informed the police and dialed the 108 emergency service. However, before the arrival of the rescue team, they rushed him to the district hospital. Despite medical treatment, Anmol succumbed to his injuries around 4 am on Wednesday.
SSI Dilmohan Bisht of Uttarkashi Kotwali said the body was sent for post-mortem after completing legal formalities. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a separate road accident on Holi, two persons were injured in the Mori tehsil area. A Bolero Camper vehicle met with an accident near Grat Toke on the Netwar-Dhauli motor road while travelling from Netwar towards Dhauli. Police rescued the injured, identified as Sachin Rawat and Karanveer Rawat, both residents of Netwar village, and sent them to the Community Health Centre in Purola after primary treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
