UPCL Seeks Data of UPNL Workers as ‘Equal Pay for Equal Work’ Plan Moves Ahead

The management of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has accelerated preparations to implement the ‘equal pay for equal work’ principle for employees working through UPNL.

Following directions from the state government, UPCL headquarters has issued a circular to all chief engineers, finance general managers, superintending engineers, deputy general managers and executive engineers seeking detailed information about UPNL employees working in the corporation.

According to the instructions, the department has been asked to submit a list of all UPNL personnel who have been continuously working since before January 1, 2016. Officials have been directed to provide complete information from their respective divisions within seven days.

UPCL has also released three separate formats to collect the required data. The first format seeks details such as the employee’s name, designation, appointment date, educational qualification and any break in service. The second format will include details of UPNL workers working against sanctioned posts meant for direct recruitment. The third format will capture information about outsourced employees working on posts meant for promotion.

Officials said the collected data will help determine the minimum pay scale applicable for the respective posts, paving the way for implementation of equal pay provisions for eligible employees.

UPCL headquarters has instructed that all information must be properly verified and authenticated before submission. Offices have been asked to send the data in Excel format through email along with hard copies on priority. Departments must also attach a copy of the approved staff structure order with the submitted details.

Authorities have warned that responsibility will be fixed in case of delay or incorrect information while compiling the data.
