The government of Uttarakhand has announced the construction of 17 new mini stadiums in hill districts to strengthen sports infrastructure and encourage young athletes. The information was shared by Sports Minister Rekha Arya.
According to officials from the Youth Welfare Department Uttarakhand, 11 mini stadiums have been proposed in various districts while six are already under construction.
Among the proposed projects, mini stadiums will be developed in Nailchami and Ghargaon Danda in Tehri, Gyaldevi in Pithoragarh, Bhankoli Gram Panchayat in Uttarkashi, and in Ekeshwar block headquarters and Dugadda in Pauri Garhwal.
In addition, mini stadiums will also be constructed in Bhimtal in Nainital district, Banbasa in Champawat, Devtoli in Bageshwar, and Chaulchhina in Almora district.
The initiative aims to provide better sports facilities to youth in remote and mountainous regions and encourage participation in sports activities at the grassroots level.

Rekha Arya said that currently the state has 30 mini stadiums under the Sports Department and 102 mini stadiums under the Youth Welfare Department, and the addition of new facilities will further strengthen the sports ecosystem in the hill districts.
