Roorkee – A 20-year-old student died in a road accident in Roorkee on Wednesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided head-on with a tractor-trolley. The incident occurred in the Chandrapuri area, where the impact reportedly caused fatal head injuries, leading to his death on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Vaibhav Juneja, a resident of Paschimi Amber Talab under Ganganahar area. He was a student at a local college on Haridwar Road and was travelling from Durga Chowk towards BSM Tiraha when the accident took place. Eyewitnesses said the tractor-trolley, loaded with fodder, was approaching from the opposite direction when it collided with the bike near a rickshaw stand.
Following the collision, the student fell onto the road and suffered severe head injuries. Locals gathered at the scene shortly after the accident. Police from Ganganahar Police Station reached the spot and took the injured to a nearby medical facility, where doctors declared him dead.
The driver of the tractor-trolley fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Police have seized the tractor-trolley and sent the body for postmortem examination. The victim’s family members reached the location after being informed and were seen in distress.
Station House Officer Manibhushan Srivastava said that no formal complaint had been received at the time of reporting, but efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.

While the incident appears to be a case of road collision, recurring accidents involving slow-moving heavy vehicles on busy urban stretches continue to raise concerns about traffic regulation and enforcement in the area.
