The Department of Anesthesiology at AIIMS Rishikesh, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anesthesiology (ISA) Rishikesh chapter, organized a variety of sports competitions. These events, held at the AIIMS Rishikesh campus, saw the institute emerge as the winner of the . However, the cricket trophy was secured by Doon Medical College.
Teams from various medical colleges and healthcare institutions across Uttarakhand participated in the sports competitions held at the AIIMS Rishikesh sports ground. The events featured engaging competitions like cricket, badminton, chess, track races, tug of war, and musical chairs. Dr. Parul Jindal, President of the Uttarakhand Society of Anesthesia (UKSA), inaugurated the sports competitions. In her speech, she urged all association members to continue promoting the legacy of such goodwill and friendship-building sports events.
Prof. Meenu Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Rishikesh, highlighted the importance of teamwork, emphasizing that these competitions provide an excellent opportunity for medical students and young professionals to showcase their collaboration skills. Dr. Y.S. Payal, organizing secretary from the Anesthesiology Department, welcomed the teams and encouraged fostering social harmony through these sports activities. Co-organizing secretary Dr. Mridul Dhar shared that teams from AIIMS Rishikesh, HIMS-SRHU, Doon Medical College, Srinagar Medical College, Mahant Indresh Medical College, and GMC Haldwani participated in the competitions.
In the Under-18 category, children aged 5-12 participated in track races, drawing cheers from the audience. Doon Medical College clinched the cricket trophy, while AIIMS Rishikesh earned the title of the ‘Best Sports Team’ overall, keeping the prestigious shield in their possession.
The event saw the presence of several prominent figures, including organizing chairman Prof. Sanjay Agarwal, co-organizing secretary Dr. Praveen Talwar, Prof. Ajit Kumar, Dr. Ankit Agarwal, Dr. Gaurav Jain, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Priyanka Gupta, Dr. Deepak Singla, Dr. Bhavna Gupta, Dr. Ruma Thakuria, and Dr. Nikita Chaudhary.
