Clerk of Aithal Government School Sentenced to 5 Years for Embezzling GPF and Student Fees

A clerk at Government Inter College Aithal, Haridwar, has been sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating government funds and damaging public trust. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Avinash Kumar Srivastava found accused Madan Singh Gosai guilty and also imposed a fine of ₹10,000.

According to Assistant Prosecution Officer Navendu Kumar Mishra, the accused forged the signatures of multiple principals during his tenure in 2008 and illegally withdrew funds from their General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts. He also misappropriated government fees and student fund collections by not depositing the money into the official passbook and instead using it for personal gain.

The scam came to light when the then principal of the school discovered discrepancies during an internal audit and lodged a complaint at Pathri police station. Following an investigation, police filed a chargesheet in court. The court recorded statements from 14 witnesses and, based on strong evidence, convicted the accused.

Madan Singh Gosai has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined ₹10,000 under charges of financial fraud and forgery.
