Ancient Radha-Krishna Temple Reopens in Sambhal After 32 Years

After 32 years of closure, the ancient Radha-Krishna temple in Mohalla Kachwayan, Sambhal, has reopened following administrative efforts. The temple, closed during the communal riots after the 1992 Babri demolition, has now resumed worship rituals after a thorough cleaning. To ensure safety, police forces have been deployed at the temple premises.

Local resident Sumit Kumar Saini recalled that before 1992, Mohalla Kachwayan was home to a mixed population of Hindus and Muslims. However, following the riots, about 200 Saini families fled due to fear, selling their homes to Muslims and relocating to Hindu-majority areas. This exodus led to the temple’s closure and halted regular worship activities.

The temple’s key was kept by Kalluram Saini of the Saini community, and it was only opened during major festivals. With persistent efforts from the police and administration, the temple has now reopened. Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi stated that locals have been encouraged to resume regular worship, with security arrangements firmly in place.
