Haridwar – The 2027 Ardh Kumbh in Haridwar will be held for three months, beginning on 13 January. For the first time in its history, four Amrit Snan dates have been scheduled. The announcement was made during a meeting at Damkothi, where Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held discussions with representatives of all 13 Akharas regarding a grand and well-organised event.
Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad Niranjani President Shri Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj said the Akharas are responsible for conducting the Kumbh, and the entire country is looking towards Haridwar with expectation. He welcomed the government’s efforts and appreciated the start of preparations.
Chief Minister Dhami said the saints play an important role in the organisation and assured that all suggestions will be considered to ensure strong arrangements. He added that preparations are moving quickly and the 2027 Ardh Kumbh will be a remarkable and well-managed event.
The Akhara Parishad announced ten major Snan dates, including four Amrit Snan days, which are being seen as a historic decision and a significant change to traditional practice. The festival will run from January to April, and authorities are planning facilities to support large numbers of pilgrims expected to arrive from across the country.
Major Snan Dates:
14 January — Makar Sankranti
6 February — Mauni Amavasya
11 February — Basant Panchami
20 February — Magh Purnima
Four Amrit Snan:
6 March — Mahashivratri
8 March — Somwati / Phalgun Amavasya
14 April — Mesh Sankranti / Baisakhi
20 April — Chaitra Purnima

Special religious dates include 7 April (Nav Samvatsar) and 15 April (Ram Navami). Saints and Akhara leaders expressed satisfaction with the schedule.
