Dehradun: The annual sports competition, Athletica-2024, at Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences (SGRRIM&HS) concluded on Tuesday with a grand ceremony. The two-day event saw athletes being awarded trophies, certificates, and prizes for their outstanding performances.
MBBS 2020 batch emerged as the overall champion of Athletica-2024. In the boys’ category, Ayush Uniyal of the MBBS 2020 batch was honored as the Overall Athlete of the Year, while in the girls’ category, Dhriti Deupa of the same batch received the same accolade.
The closing ceremony took place at the SGRRIM&HS sports grounds, with Dr. Ajay Kumar Khanduri, Registrar of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, as the chief guest, accompanied by special guests Dr. Ashok Nayak, Principal of SGRRIM&HS, and Dr. Sanjay Sadhu, Chairperson of Athletica-2024.

The girls’ cricket final was played between MBBS 2020 and MBBS 2022, with the 2020 batch clinching the title. Yaksha Shekhawat of the 2020 batch was named Woman of the Match for her exceptional performance. In the boys’ cricket final, MBBS 2020 faced MBBS 2021. The 2021 batch set a target of 82 runs in 12 overs. MBBS 2020’s opener, Sarvesh Nautiyal, played a crucial knock of 51 runs off 22 balls, with Ayush contributing 33 runs, leading the team to a victory without losing a wicket. Sarvesh Nautiyal was named Man of the Match.
In the football final, MBBS 2020 batch triumphed over MBBS 2023 with a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Dev and Anas. The basketball final was also won by the MBBS 2020 batch.
The sports committee, including Sports Officer Satyaprakash Joshi, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, and several faculty members like Dr. Puneet Ohri, Dr. Nidhi Jain, and Dr. Lalit Kumar Varshney, played a crucial role in the success of the event.
