The National Ski & Snowboard Championship, scheduled to be held in Auli from March 16 to 19, has been postponed due to insufficient snow. The snow in Auli has completely melted, while the Gorson area has only about five inches of snow left.
Now, plans are underway to organize ski mountaineering competitions instead. The Snowboard Association will soon send a proposal to the tourism department for approval. Ski Mountaineering President Ajay Bhatt stated that this sport can be conducted even with minimal snow, as it involves running and walking with skis. Preparations are being made to hold the competition in Auli and Gorson.
