A tragic accident in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district has shaken the nation. A vehicle carrying 19 pilgrims from Rajasthan’s Udaipur to Badrinath plunged into the Alaknanda River early this morning. Several passengers have been rescued, while some have lost their lives and others remain missing.
Driver Sumit, one of the survivors, revealed from his hospital bed that the vehicle had already visited Kedarnath and was heading toward Badrinath when a truck suddenly rammed into their vehicle. The impact caused several passengers to be thrown out of the vehicle. Injured passengers confirmed this sequence of events. Another survivor, Bhavna, stated that the group had halted for the night in Rudraprayag and resumed the journey around 7:30 AM.
Upon receiving the alert, teams from the police, SDRF, and district administration rushed to the site and began rescue operations.
District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar confirmed that nine people have been rescued so far, with two reported dead, including one woman. Eight injured individuals have been shifted to the district hospital, among them several children.
Eyewitnesses reported that three passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the collision and were critically injured. The rescue operation continues to trace those still missing.
