The Uttarakhand government has dismissed Colonel Subodh Shukla (Retd.), District Sainik Welfare Officer of Bageshwar, with immediate effect following bribery allegations. The action came after Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi took cognizance of the complaint and directed the department’s secretary to issue termination orders without delay.
The dismissal orders were promptly released after the minister’s intervention. Addressing the matter, Minister Joshi reiterated the state government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, particularly in sensitive departments like Sainik Welfare.
He emphasized that transparency and accountability must remain paramount in departments dealing with the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. The minister also instructed departmental officers to take swift and strict action in response to any such complaints in the future, ensuring such incidents are not repeated.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication, the minister stated that protecting the interests of ex-servicemen and their families remains a top priority for the state.
