Six Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested from Dehradun and Haridwar

Police have arrested six Bangladeshi nationals—four men and two women—from Dehradun and Haridwar, along with an Indian woman who allegedly aided their illegal stay. Authorities are now on the lookout for two more individuals who reportedly facilitated their entry into India.

The arrests were made following a tip-off about suspicious residents in Clement Town, Dehradun. SSP Ajay Singh confirmed that SOG, LIU, and local police jointly conducted a verification drive, during which five Bangladeshi nationals—Nirmal Roy, Shem Roy, Lipi Roy (female), Krishna alias Santosh, and Munir Chandra Roy—were apprehended from Lane No. 11, Post Office Road. They were living with an Indian woman identified as Pooja Rani alias Rosna.

None of the accused could produce valid documents. A search of their residence led to the recovery of fake Aadhaar cards from Patna and West Bengal in Munir’s possession, while Krishna and Nirmal were found with Bangladeshi ID cards. Four children living with them have been taken into protective custody.

All six Bangladeshi nationals have been charged with illegally residing in India. Pooja Rani has been booked and arrested for assisting them. Interrogation by police, Military Intelligence, and the Intelligence Bureau continued late into the night.
