Betalghat SHO Suspended After Firing Incident During Panchayat Polls

In Nainital’s Betalghat block, the Election Commission has taken strict action following the firing incident during panchayat elections. Betalghat SHO Anish Ahmad has been suspended, while the government has recommended departmental proceedings against Bhawali Circle Officer Pramod Shah, considering the seriousness of the case.

The incident took place on 14 August, just before the block chief elections, when a villager was shot in the leg during the firing. The injured was rushed to Betalghat CHC for treatment. Following the incident, Congress workers alleged that the firing was intended to disrupt the electoral process.
