A new dress code has been enforced at the Bhadraj Temple near Mussoorie, where devotees will no longer be allowed to enter in indecent or inappropriate attire. The temple committee has stated that individuals wearing such clothing will be offered a dhoti before being allowed inside.
Situated at an altitude of 7,267 feet and about 10 km from Mussoorie, the Bhadraj Temple is dedicated to Lord Balaram, elder brother of Lord Krishna. The temple draws large crowds, especially during its annual fair on August 16 and 17. To preserve the sanctity of the religious site, the Bhadraj Temple Committee (Binhar Jaunpur Mussoorie, Pachhwadun) has urged visitors to dress modestly.
According to committee president Rajesh Nautiyal, a unanimous decision was made to restrict entry to those wearing short dresses, skirts, off-pants, mini-skirts, night suits, or torn jeans. He emphasised that appropriate conduct and attire are essential within temple premises. Anyone violating the dress code will be given a dhoti to wear before entry is allowed.
