Dehradun: Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the “Bhagirath Udyan” at Raj Bhavan and unveiled a grand statue of King Bhagirath. The 10-feet tall statue, placed on an 8-feet granite pedestal, has been crafted using fiber and resin by renowned Haridwar artist Shivam Chaurasia. Along with the statue, various plant species have been planted in the garden, creating an environment filled with greenery and spirituality.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said the statue is not just a monument but a living pillar of inspiration. He added that the garden reflects a divine harmony where stars, nature, temples, and mountains together convey the message that when the goal is public welfare, both divinity and nature pave the way. He appreciated the officials and staff who developed the garden.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the statue will inspire every citizen and visitor to Raj Bhavan with the values of duty, welfare, and Indian culture. He emphasized that it will always remind people that “Bhagirath-like effort” is the true path to achieving great goals.
Before the inauguration, the Governor and Chief Minister offered prayers at the Rajpragyeshwar Mahadev Temple located within Raj Bhavan, seeking prosperity and well-being for the nation and the state.
The event was attended by Secretary to Governor Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Kaushal Kumar Kishore, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Additional Secretary to CM Banshidhar Tiwari, Additional Secretary PWD Vineet Kumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti University Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University Prof. Dinesh Chandra Shastri, Finance Controller Dr. Tripti Srivastava, PWD Assistant Engineer Vijay Dhasmana, Horticulture Officer Deepak Purohit, and other dignitaries.
