The bird flu scare in Uttar Pradesh has raised concerns in Dehradun, leading to a sharp decline in egg and chicken sales. Traders report that egg supply has fallen by nearly half, with arrivals dropping from 8–10 thousand trays per day to just 4–5 thousand.
Local trader Sanjay Chauhan stated that while demand has fallen significantly, prices in the city remain stable. The reduced inflow due to restrictions has balanced the market, preventing a price crash. However, online egg prices have reportedly increased.
Since Dehradun relies heavily on supplies from other states, the spread of bird flu outside Uttarakhand has directly impacted business. People are avoiding bulk purchases, causing a slowdown in both egg and chicken trade in the city.
