Uttarakhand Municipal Elections: BJP to Release First Candidate List Today

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will announce its first list of candidates for the Uttarakhand municipal elections on Friday. The State Election Committee finalized the names of candidates for municipal and panchayat president positions during a meeting held at the party headquarters. The panel for mayoral candidates has been forwarded to the central leadership for approval.

State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan informed that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated virtually in the meeting. Key leaders present included State In-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Co-Incharge Rekha Verma, State President Mahendra Bhatt, former Chief Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Vijay Bahuguna, and Tirath Singh Rawat, along with Garhwal MP Anil Baluni, Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, Madan Kaushik, State General Secretary (Organization) Ajey Kumar, State General Secretary Aditya Kothari, and Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.

Detailed discussions were held on candidates for mayoral, municipal president, and panchayat president posts. Consensus was reached on candidates for municipal and panchayat president roles, while mayoral candidates will be finalized after approval from the central leadership.

The BJP is expected to release its first list, including names for mayoral, municipal, and panchayat president positions, by Friday evening. The next phase will involve the announcement of candidates for ward councilor and member posts.
