The first board meeting of the newly formed Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) concluded with the approval of a ₹127 crore budget for the two prominent pilgrimage sites for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The meeting began with the ceremonial worship (aarti) of Lord Badrivishal and Baba Kedar under the chairmanship of BKTC President Hemant Dwivedi. Finance Officer Manish Kumar Upreti presented the proposed budget, which was discussed and approved by the board.
According to the budget details, ₹64.22 crore has been allocated for Badrinath Dham as proposed income, with an expenditure of approximately ₹56 crore. For Kedarnath Dham, the proposed income is ₹62.87 crore, against which around ₹40 crore has been earmarked for expenditure.
As of July 8, 2025, a total of 24,78,963 pilgrims have visited the two shrines — 13,41,335 in Kedarnath and 11,37,628 in Badrinath. Registration data shows 15,49,930 bookings for Kedarnath and 14,32,983 for Badrinath.
