Amid ongoing LPG shortage concerns, a joint police-administration team uncovered a black marketing operation, seizing 65 gas cylinders from an abandoned structure in Parmananadpur village. One आरोपी was arrested on the spot, while illegal substances were also recovered during the raid.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhay Pratap Singh and Tehsildar Pankaj Chandola acted on a tip-off received on Sunday regarding illegal storage of gas cylinders in a closed poultry farm located in Dabhoura Mustahkam Parmananadpur under ITI Kotwali area. The information indicated that the cylinders were being hoarded for black marketing purposes.
During the raid, officials recovered 53 empty and 16 filled LPG cylinders hidden within the dilapidated premises. The team also found 3.17 kg of cannabis and nearly 100 litres of illicit liquor stored at the same location, pointing to a broader illegal operation.
The recovered cylinders were handed over to Food and Civil Supplies Inspector Tanmay Maithani, while the seized narcotics and liquor were taken into custody by ITI Kotwali Police. The arrested accused, identified as Zubair Ali, a resident of Ghosipura Pattikala in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh, is being interrogated.
Officials stated that strict instructions have been issued by the District Magistrate to curb black marketing of essential commodities. Special teams have been formed to monitor such activities, especially during supply shortages.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused allegedly operated under the cover of a small kiosk selling cigarettes, using it as a front for illegal LPG trading and substance distribution. He is also reportedly linked to similar activities in Uttar Pradesh, where action had been taken against him about a year ago.

While the raid highlights administrative vigilance, the incident raises concerns about supply gaps being exploited for illegal trade, particularly during shortages when consumer vulnerability increases.
