Bomb Threat Email Sent to Almora District Court, Security Tightened

The District Court in Almora received a bomb threat through email, triggering heightened security measures across the premises. The threatening message was sent to the official email ID of the District Judge’s office, leading to immediate action by local authorities. Similar threat emails had earlier been reported in Nainital and Ramnagar.

Following the alert, police teams rushed to the court complex and conducted a thorough search operation. Personnel from the police department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Fire Department jointly inspected the premises for any suspicious objects.

As a precautionary measure, security agencies also carried out a mock drill within the court campus to assess preparedness for any emergency situation. The exercise aimed to test response mechanisms and coordination among different agencies in case of a real threat.

Balwant Singh Rawat, Circle Officer of Police, Almora, confirmed that a bomb threat email had been received and that immediate verification and inspection were conducted. He stated that no suspicious item had been found during the search.

The Cyber Cell has initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the email. Surveillance around the court complex has been intensified, and authorities have urged the public to avoid spreading rumours and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
