Tension gripped the town after a bomb threat email was received at the passport office operating in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal. Police and intelligence teams rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the premises. No suspicious object was found during the search, but security has been tightened as a precaution.
The passport office, which functions from within the post office building in Srinagar, received the threatening message on its official email ID. The email warned of blowing up the office, causing panic among officials who immediately informed the police.
Teams from the Srinagar Kotwali police station and intelligence department examined the entire building and kept a close watch on surrounding areas for any suspicious activity. Authorities confirmed that the situation remains normal, but the matter is being treated with seriousness.
Inspector Kuldeep Singh of Srinagar Kotwali said that nothing suspicious was found during the initial investigation. He added that officials are also verifying whether similar emails were sent to other passport offices across the country.

The cyber cell has been roped in to trace the origin of the email. Technical analysis is underway to identify the sender and determine the motive behind the threat.
