Bhimtal – A Pithoragarh to Haldwani-bound KMOY bus overturned near Veer Bhatti on Wednesday following a brake failure. Thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of the driver, Shankar Nath, all 30 passengers on board were saved with only minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that as the bus approached Veer Bhatti, its brakes suddenly failed. Despite the challenging situation, the driver remained calm and maneuvered the bus towards the hillside, preventing a major disaster. The bus overturned, but the passengers escaped with minor injuries.
All the injured passengers were sent to Haldwani for primary medical care. Locals praised Shankar Nath’s presence of mind, emphasizing that his actions prevented a severe accident. The administration has acknowledged the incident and is considering honoring the driver for his heroic act.
