Shri Raghunath Kirti Campus of the Central Sanskrit University is set to implement a new set of strict rules for students and faculty from the upcoming academic session starting June 16. Key among the changes is the replacement of traditional Saturday-Sunday holidays with leave only on lunar dates — Pratipada, Ashtami, Amavasya, and Purnima.
Students will now be required to speak exclusively in Sanskrit within the campus. Hostel residents must wake up by 4:30 AM, and mobile phones will be collected at 9 PM and returned the next morning at 8 AM. Wearing the designated uniform will be compulsory for all students.
Hostel accommodation will now be strictly merit-based, factoring in academic performance, distance from home, and disciplinary record. Students living within a 20-kilometre radius of the campus will not be eligible for hostel admission. This year, only 550 students will be allotted hostel seats, although the total capacity is 570.
The new code of conduct also applies to faculty members. Male teachers must wear dhoti or pyjama-kurta, while female faculty are required to wear salwar-suit or saree. Campus Director Prof. PVB Subrahmanyam stated that the measures aim to create a disciplined and Sanskrit-centric educational environment.
