Central Team Assesses Damage in Disaster-Hit Districts

An inter-ministerial central team conducted a ground inspection on Tuesday in Rudraprayag, Pauri, and Nainital districts to assess damage caused by recent disasters. The team interacted with district officials and also met with affected residents.

In Nainital, losses due to heavy rainfall were estimated at around Rs 443.42 crore. Similarly, administrations of Rudraprayag and Pauri provided details of damage to public and private properties.

Joint Secretary R. Prasanna, who led the team, said the visit aimed to prepare an accurate assessment report for the central government. He added that the findings will help in planning reconstruction, rehabilitation, and restoration of normal life in affected areas. The team returned to Dehradun in the evening and is scheduled to hold a meeting with state officials today.
