Chamoli Disaster: CM Dhami Orders ₹5 Lakh Aid for Affected Families and Damaged Houses

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a late-night review at the Disaster Operations Center, directed the Chamoli District Magistrate to immediately release ₹5 lakh assistance for damaged houses and to the families of those who lost their lives in the Tharali disaster.

He instructed officials to ensure quick water drainage from Syanachatti and to make temporary arrangements for people rendered homeless in Tharali. Rehabilitation work must also be expedited. Basic facilities like electricity, water, and road connectivity in disaster-hit areas should be restored at the earliest. CM emphasized that ration and relief material must be distributed together with strict quality checks.

The Chief Minister praised the Chamoli DM for prompt relief measures and effective coordination, as well as the SDRF and NDRF for their timely rescue work. He further instructed all DMs to remain fully prepared in view of the two-day orange alert and to keep disaster management equipment at sensitive locations.

Additionally, CM Dhami directed the formation of a committee comprising experts and scientists from reputed agencies to study disaster patterns in Tharali (Chamoli), Saiji (Pauri), and Dharali (Uttarkashi), and prepare a detailed report. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary and senior officials.
