Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Nandanagar in Chamoli to take stock of the disaster-hit areas and meet affected families. During the visit, an emotional moment occurred when a grieving woman broke down while narrating her ordeal. The CM comforted her, wiped her tears, and assured every possible assistance from the government.
Dhami inspected relief and rescue operations in Falí, Kuntari, and nearby regions. Officials informed him that out of the 10 people reported missing, one was rescued safely, while seven bodies have been recovered. Two people from Dhurma village are still missing, and search efforts continue. The recovered bodies have been handed over to their families.
On Friday, the victims were cremated with tearful farewells at the confluence of the Nandakini and Chufla rivers in Nandanagar. The sight of successive funeral pyres left the entire region grieving. Earlier, the bodies of Narendra Singh and Jagdamba Prasad were retrieved. Later, when the body of Jagdamba Prasad’s wife, Bhaga Devi, was also recovered, both were cremated together. Other victims were also given final rites at the same site.
