Chamoli: A fire broke out at Government Primary School Paini in Pokhri block after a short circuit in the Wi-Fi line, leading to damage of computers and furniture. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The incident occurred around 1 pm on Wednesday when a short circuit reportedly took place in the school’s Wi-Fi connection. Within minutes, the flames spread to nearby computer systems and furniture, triggering panic inside the school premises.

Village guard Dalil Singh informed Pokhri police about the incident. Sub-Inspector Dalveer Singh Negi reached the spot with a police team, but by then the computer set and other materials had already been reduced to ashes.

Teacher Kamal Singh Aswal said the fire was caused by a short circuit in the Wi-Fi line, resulting in complete damage to computer equipment and furniture. The fire was brought under control in time, preventing a larger mishap.

Police inspected the site and gathered details of the incident. The school administration is currently assessing the extent of the loss.
