As part of preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, the Rishikesh ARTO office began issuing green cards for commercial vehicles on Friday. A total of 21 green cards were issued on the first day. The inauguration ceremony featured Vedic chants and a havan performed by Brahmin priests.
The distribution of green cards was officially launched by Divisional Transport Officers (Administration) Sandeep Saini and (Enforcement) Anita Chamola. Officials stated that green cards are mandatory for all commercial vehicles traveling to Char Dham or other tourist destinations like Tungnath and Chopta.
Check posts located along the yatra route will become active a week before the pilgrimage begins. The Divisional Transport Office will deploy staff to manage these check posts and ensure compliance.
