Following fresh clearance from the Central Air Traffic Control (ATC), helicopter services to Kedarnath have resumed, ensuring uninterrupted operations for the Chardham Yatra. The temporary suspension occurred due to a national review of airspace management amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan. With the situation now stabilized and air routes cleared, services to Kedarnath and other pilgrimage sites are operating normally.
Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari confirmed that Kedarnath’s heli services are functioning smoothly. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting at his official residence to assess the state’s preparedness in light of the new central guidelines. The meeting included discussions on various aspects of the Chardham Yatra and was attended virtually by all senior and district officials.
Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) CEO Sonika also stated that helicopter services for the Chardham Yatra are now running uninterrupted. She mentioned that the brief pause in operations was due to procedural delays in receiving NOCs and approvals.
The situation at the borders remains tense, entering its fourth day. On Saturday night, Pakistan attempted to target 26 Indian cities, prompting heightened security alerts across several border regions. India’s air defense systems successfully intercepted these threats, and retaliatory measures were initiated in response.
