Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the iconic Chenab Bridge to the nation today, marking a historic moment for Jammu & Kashmir. The engineering marvel, constructed over the Chenab River, is the world’s highest railway arch bridge and will serve as a symbol of India’s growing infrastructural prowess.
PM Modi will also flag off the Vande Bharat Express from Katra to Srinagar, establishing seamless train connectivity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The long-awaited dream of linking Kashmir by rail is now a reality, bridging regions and hearts across the nation. Starting Saturday, passengers will be able to travel on this high-speed train route.
To ensure a smooth and secure event, multi-layered security arrangements have been implemented across Jammu & Kashmir. Advanced surveillance systems, including drones and tech-enabled gadgets, have been deployed. Security grids at borders and sensitive zones have been tightened following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, making this PM Modi’s first visit to the Union Territory since Operation Sindoor.
Massive Infrastructure Boost for J&K
The Prime Minister will inaugurate development projects worth over ₹46,000 crore, including the ₹43,780 crore Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), spanning 272 km. This strategic rail line will offer all-weather connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of India, significantly boosting regional development, mobility, and national integration.
