Govt on Alert Over Outsiders in Bureaucracy, Chief Secretary Orders Strict Action

IAS Anand Verdhan

Taking serious note of unauthorized involvement of outsiders in government operations, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has issued stern instructions to curb such practices. In a letter addressed to all Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and the Director of Vigilance, the Chief Secretary emphasized that strict action must be taken against officials and staff who engage external individuals in official work without prior departmental approval.

The state government has received reports indicating that some officials across various departments have been unofficially involving non-government persons in departmental functions. The administration considers this practice inappropriate, citing that it sends a negative message regarding corruption control and erodes public trust in government functioning.

Chief Secretary Bardhan has made it clear that if any such case is identified in any department, immediate and stringent disciplinary action should be initiated against the responsible officials or employees. This move is aimed at safeguarding the integrity and transparency of government procedures.
