Dehradun: District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal has taken serious note of the recent fire incident at Circle Bar, located on Rajpur Road, and ordered the suspension of the bar’s license for 15 days. The decision follows a joint inspection conducted under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadar and Excise Officer-in-Charge Hari Giri.

The incident occurred during a juggling fire show inside the bar, where organizers reportedly violated safety norms, putting dozens of people at risk. DM Bansal emphasized that public safety is the top priority and stated that the administration “will go to any extent necessary to ensure the protection of citizens.”

According to the joint investigation report, around 40–50 people were present in the third-floor hall when two bartenders performed a juggling act involving fire. Both performers sustained burn injuries during the act. The inspection revealed that the hall’s ceiling and décor were made of wooden branches and materials highly prone to fire, which could have led to a major disaster.

The inquiry further found that the bartenders—appointed primarily for serving alcohol—were made to perform unsafe fire shows, violating the terms of the bar’s license. Officials concluded that the management’s negligence could have resulted in significant loss of life.

Taking cognizance of these violations, the district administration suspended the bar’s FL-7 license under Sections 34(b) and 34(e) of the Excise Act (“Power to cancel or suspend the license”).
