Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a meeting of the State Disability Advisory Board at the Secretariat, reiterating the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities. He directed officials to ensure that welfare schemes and programmes reach beneficiaries with transparency and ease.
The Chief Minister instructed the Health Secretary to organise regular special health camps across the state, where persons with disabilities would receive medical treatment, certificates, artificial limbs, and assistive devices on-site. He further asked the Social Welfare Secretary to act promptly on suggestions received during the meeting and to ensure reservation benefits in government services are fully provided to eligible candidates.
Dhami stressed that 100% coverage of pension and social security schemes for eligible disabled persons must be ensured. He urged all secretaries to closely monitor departmental initiatives concerning the disabled and give priority to the effective implementation of schemes directly linked to their welfare.
Calling persons with disabilities an integral part of society, Dhami said the government is making every possible effort to empower them. Legislators Bharat Chaudhary and Savita Kapoor, along with secretaries Sridhar Babu Addanki, Ranjit Sinha, Chandresh Kumar, V. Shanmugam, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Social Welfare Director Prakash Chandra, and board members were present in the meeting.
