Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured the winners of the ‘Bill Lao–Inaam Pao’ scheme during a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Chief Sevak Sadan. The initiative, run between 1 September 2022 and 31 March 2024, rewarded 1,888 consumers for submitting purchase bills and supporting transparent economic practices. Prizes ranged from EV cars and Alto K10 cars to laptops, smart TVs, tablets and microwaves.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami congratulated the winners and said the scheme has infused a new sense of awareness towards revenue collection. Introduced in 2022, the initiative aimed to link public participation with state revenue growth. The Chief Minister said that in three years, the programme has successfully strengthened consumer awareness and highlighted that every purchase bill contributes to the development of Uttarakhand.
He added that the scheme has become a symbol of shared responsibility between consumers and traders. CM Dhami also noted how the double-engine government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritised “protection, promotion and profit” for traders, creating a business-friendly environment through reforms and ease-of-doing-business measures.
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand has strengthened fiscal discipline and kept its fiscal deficit within the prescribed limits. The state has recently been recognised among India’s best-managed states by the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management. Uttarakhand also ranks at the top in the national Sustainable Development Goals index.
Appealing to the public, CM Dhami urged citizens to request bills for every purchase to ensure transparent transactions and contribute to the state’s development.
Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu said 90,000 consumers participated by submitting 6.5 lakh bills worth ₹270 crore. Commissioner Sonika informed that, apart from major prizes, monthly rewards of ₹1,500 were distributed for 17 months.
