On the 79th Independence Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami hoisted the national flag at the state’s main celebration in Dehradun’s Parade Ground, honoring families of freedom fighters, along with police personnel and sportspersons for their service and achievements.
Six Major Announcements:
- Schools lacking cooking facilities under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme will receive two LPG cylinders and a stove from the state government.
- Ten handpumps will be installed in each assembly constituency facing drinking water shortages.
- Monthly honorarium for village watchmen and guards will be increased by ₹1,000.
- Monthly honorarium for block representatives in the Sainik Welfare Department will be increased by ₹2,000.
- Special educational centers will be set up at the district level to promote remote and employment-oriented higher education, coordinated by Uttarakhand Open University.
- Regular study of Gangotri and other Himalayan glaciers will be conducted; the Disaster Management Department will be strengthened for predictive and proactive disaster response.
Awards Presented:
CM Dhami conferred Chief Minister’s Commendable Service Medals to police and fire service personnel for outstanding service and specific achievements, including Shweta Chaubey (Commandant, IRB-II Dehradun), Yagesh Chandra (DSP Intelligence), and several officers from GRP, CID, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli, and PAC units.
Later, at the CM’s residence, Dhami led a flag-hoisting ceremony and administered a pledge for national unity. He paid tribute to martyrs, remembered recent disaster victims in Dharali and other regions, and assured rehabilitation for affected families. He highlighted rapid reconstruction work in Uttarakhand and reiterated the state government’s commitment to its 25-year development vision.
