Dehradun hosted the first International Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference today, welcoming participants from 17 countries. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the event, emphasizing the state’s progress and encouraging expatriates to share their insights for Uttarakhand’s development.
Focus on Progress and Opportunities
During his address, CM Dhami highlighted Uttarakhand’s rapid strides in education, industry, science, and healthcare. He described the experiences of expatriates as a guiding force for the government. The conference featured four panel discussions exploring opportunities in investment, skill development, and herbal industries in the state.
Distinguished Guests and Cultural Recognition
UAE-based Shailendra Negi praised the warm, culturally rich welcome at the event. Notable attendees included Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardee Girish Chandra Pant, Dev Raturi from China, Dr. Anita Sharma from the USA, Bhuvan Tiwari from Japan, and Sunil Thapliyal from Singapore.
Foundation for Global Engagement
CM Dhami had initiated dialogues with expatriates during his overseas visits before the December 2023 Investor Summit, which inspired the formation of the International Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference and the Pravasi Uttarakhandi Cell to strengthen ties with the diaspora.
