Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the ‘Swachhotsav-2025’ program on Wednesday. On this occasion, he extended warm birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wishing him good health and long life. He also greeted the people of Uttarakhand on Vishwakarma Jayanti.
The Chief Minister joined the cleanliness campaign by sweeping and urged citizens to actively participate in the initiative. He announced that from September 17 to October 2, cleanliness-related activities will be held across the state. He also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, administered the cleanliness pledge, planted saplings, flagged off the Swachhta Rath, and honored sanitation workers.
Dhami said that under the leadership of PM Modi, the cleanliness movement has gained new momentum nationwide. He described Swachhotsav-2025 as a pledge for a healthier and cleaner future for the next generations, adding that achieving the dream of “Clean India, Healthy India” is everyone’s responsibility.
Highlighting progress, the CM noted that Dehradun Municipal Corporation ranked 19th in the Clean Air Survey under the National Clean Air Programme and 62nd in the national cleanliness ranking this year—an improvement from previous years. Over six lakh household toilets have been built for families without access to sanitation facilities. The corporation has also set up a Swachhta Control Room for prompt redressal of sanitation issues, along with waste collection, CCTV monitoring, and regular cleaning measures.
Dhami emphasized that cleanliness is not just a government campaign but a way of life and culture. He urged people to take responsibility for keeping their homes, neighborhoods, villages, and cities clean. Stressing environmental protection, he highlighted the “One Tree for Mother” initiative, calling tree plantation vital for ensuring a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
The event was attended by Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj, Ganesh Joshi, and Subodh Uniyal, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MLAs Savita Kapoor and Suresh Gadiya, state functionary Hemraj Bisht, Secretary Nitesh Jha, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, along with other public representatives and officials.
