More than two lakh marriages have been registered in Uttarakhand under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), marking a significant milestone in the state’s legal and social reform journey. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state is witnessing a historic transformation, with marriage registration becoming more transparent and accessible.

To ensure no citizen is denied their legal rights due to financial constraints, the government has made marriage registration completely free until 26 July 2025. The Chief Minister described the rising number of registrations as a reflection of the people’s trust and participation in this reform.

He urged all couples to register their marriages online, highlighting that this collective effort will strengthen the new legal consciousness and contribute to building a just Uttarakhand.
