Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Gadarpur-Dineshpur-Matkota-Haldwani motor road and the widening and strengthening of the Manunagar-Gadarpur-Dineshpur-Matkota-Haldwani road under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund. The project will cost around ₹55 crore.
The CM said this initiative will be a milestone for the Terai region, boosting connectivity, trade, industry, and tourism while giving a new direction to the local economy. The road will connect Gadarpur, Dineshpur, Matkota, Chhatarpur, and Uttar Pradesh’s Bilaspur. Nearly 2 lakh residents, traders, and industrial workers will benefit from smoother and safer travel.
He highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Uttarakhand is achieving new milestones in development, with strengthened infrastructure in roads, education, healthcare, and drinking water from cities to remote villages. He also stressed that despite frequent natural disasters damaging hill roads, the government ensures quick restoration of traffic flow on a war footing.
Dhami added that border regions are being connected through an extensive road network, and the “double-engine government” is completing long-pending projects. He cited the restart of the Jamrani Dam multipurpose project to resolve drinking water and irrigation issues in Terai, and the development of an industrial smart city in Khurpia to accelerate regional growth. Efforts are also underway to preserve cultural heritage, including the restoration and beautification of ancient temples in Manaskhand similar to Kedarkhand.
The event was attended by MP Ajay Bhatt, MLA Shiv Arora, BJP State Minister Gunjan Sukhija, and others.
